You’ll serve as a founding member of the India Trust organization, co-lead the definition of the team’s charter, and play a central role in shaping its long-term strategy, culture, and technical direction. As the team grows, you will help establish it as a center of excellence for Trust & Safety within Airbnb globally.You’ll partner closely with product, data science, security, and other cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that proactively protect our users and uphold the integrity of Airbnb’s platform. This is a highly visible role, ideal for a strategic technical leader with a passion for operational excellence and people leadership.A Typical Day:

• Technical Leadership: Define and execute the technical strategy for trust and safety initiatives, ensuring alignment with Airbnb’s long-term goals.
• Team Management: Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team. Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and partner engineering teams to develop effective, scalable solutions.
• Project Oversight: Lead end-to-end project execution, ensuring high-quality delivery across the software development lifecycle.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Provide clear communication of project status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and partners.
• Operational Excellence: Champion best practices for reliability, scalability, and incident response. Maintain operational readiness for critical systems.
• Industry Awareness: Stay current on trends in Trust & Safety, and drive adoption of best practices and innovations within the team.
• Global Alignment: Work with global counterparts to ensure the India team’s initiatives are aligned with broader Trust & Safety goals.

Your Expertise:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 12+ years of industry experience, including 5–7+ years in engineering management.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale, secure, and reliable systems.
• Strong experience in leading technical strategy and building scalable engineering, data, or machine learning systems.
• Expertise in leading AI/ML teams and delivering AI-powered solutions is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in at least one major language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Ruby).
• Demonstrated ability to hire and retain top-tier engineering talent.
• Excellent communicator—capable of bridging technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience setting multi-year strategies and aligning diverse stakeholders.
• Background working in fast-paced, agile environments with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for trust, safety, and driving positive social impact.
